Black Creek

Bates Beach Bay Farm
They are the producers of extraordinary tomatoes and other delicious, healthy vegetables all grown in pesticide free greenhouses. They also grow high quality strawberries, blueberries and melons.   They welcome the public to visit their  new farm gate market near Seal Bay Park at 5700 Bates Road just one kilometre north of Seal Bay Park and taste for yourself the quality of our products.

Island Bison
Island Bison is the only bison ranch on Vancouver Island. It was created 10 years ago by the  Henrichs. The new owners—Lisa and Marc Vance, and Karen and Dick Watkins—recently purchased the Island Bison Farm in Beautiful Black Creek.  They are excited to be able to continue to provide the healthiest meat you can eat. Bison are free range grass feeders—the way nature intended—and are 100% free of added hormones or antibiotics. Customers and groups can now visit the ranch and its new farm store which stocks their selection of steaks, roasts, ground, patties, pepperoni, garlic coil and their famous bison jerky!

Coastal Black Winery & Big D's Bees Honey
Coastal Black is one of the newest wineries in the Comox Valley. They just had their official grand opening in October 2010.  This family business has made the transition from dairy farming to winemaking. They have the largest cultivated blackberry farm in Canada with more than 80 acres.  In addition to the winery, this is also where Big Bee Honey is produced.  We will have our gourmet picnic at this location.

Shelter Point Distillery
Shelter Point is one of only two Single Malt Whisky distilleries in Canada, and opened in 2011. Located halfway between Campbell River and the Comox Valley on the banks of the Oyster River, Shelter Point Distillery sits on a beautiful estate surrounded by fields of raspberries and barley. We will visit the distillery and meet the team behind this exciting project, while enjoying a tasting amongst the copper stills.
